How Can You Support the Work of the Wellington Housing Trust?

Tell People About Our Work

The Wellington Housing Trust wants to increase its profile and one of the best ways to do this is by word of mouth. If you know anyone who has the time, resources or finances that could help the Trust please tell them about our organisation. More importantly if you know anyone on a low income who has a housing need suggest they contact us to make an application.

Become Involved in the Trust's Work

If you are interested in housing issues or helping people on low incomes to obtain affordable housing and you have some time, you may like to get involved in the work of the Trust. We always need volunteers to help us achieve our objectives.

For example, you and your co-workers could help with a specific project – it’s a great opportunity for team building and a way to give back to our community. A corporate group who did a complete garden make over for us at several properties used these words to describe their experience: rewarding, uplifting and humbling, exhausting, exhilarating, satisfying, bonding, invigorating, informative, compelling, inspiration and educational.

For a small subscription fee you can become a member, receive our newsletters, participate in Trust activities and contribute to the work of the Trust.

Loans

The Trust currently has a system where people loan the Trust money at no or low interest. The Trust has equity in our properties that we can use as security for these loans.

The Trust wants to develop new properties and so loans could be used to help with this. Otherwise the money would be used for upgrade work on our current housing stock.

Lending the Trust money is a fantastic way for you to use your money in a positive way to help people in need – and it doesn't cost you anything.

Loan Us a House!

This is a scheme where property owners lend their property to the Trust. The Trust carries out the day to day management of the property – hassle free to the owner – while the property appreciates in value. The house will be rented to a family or individual on a low income and the Trust will receive the rent. Capital expenditure is normally shared between the Trust and the owner.

Donations

Of course we always welcome financial donations to help our work. Any money donated will be used for repairs and maintenance so will directly improve the quality of life of our tenants.
