  • Free health checks for pēpi/babies and tamariki/children on Waiheke Island from four weeks to five years old

  • Breastfeeding advice

  • Hearing, vision and B4 School checks

  • Support for you as a māmā/mum and other caregivers in your whānau.

  • Pēpi/baby growth and development support

  • Registered nurses will visit your home or meet you at our Ostend office, whatever works best for you

  • Helpful parenting information

  • Feeling overwhelmed or unsure about something? In addition to being registered nurses specialising in pēpi/babies and tamariki/children, we are also mum’s first and foremost. We’ve been there and know it’s not always ‘bubbles and smiles’

We understand that having an unwell child can be upsetting and stressful. Waiheke Health Trust’s experienced medical team based at Ostend Medical Centre is here to provide healthcare that is:

  • Whānau/Family-focused starting from your pēpi/baby's six-week check

  • Friendly and supportive including doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurses

  • All encompassing including health checks and vaccinations. We are also trained to handle accidents, emergency care and urgent situations when they arise.

Diet, Kai / Food - Nutrition Advice and support

Let’s face it, meal times can fluctuate from hilarious facial expressions to overwhelming and everything in between – the good news is, we're here to help. In the first instance it is worth speaking to your primary care provider who can refer you for:

  • Specialist help from our tamariki/children's dietitian

  • Support for a range of aspects such as food allergies, picky eating, not making target weights and other nutrition and digestive issues

  • A family-centered approach to help both tamariki/ children and mātua/parents

When your tamaiti/child needs imaging services, the great news is you don’t have to head off island. We provide convenient, professional care and access to this service right here on Waiheke.

  • Located at the Waiheke Health Trust’s Ostend location (5 Belgium Street)

  • X-rays are available for all ages 

  • Convenient and professional diagnostic services with referral from your medical centre

  • Financial help is available through the Jassy Dean Trust if needed, we can assist you with this here.

Ultrasound

Full pregnancy ultrasound services are available from your first scan right through to birth. After you call us on to make your booking, we’ll send you an information sheet on how to prepare for your scan as well as how to access the photos of your pēpi/baby afterwards.

  • We are located at the Waiheke Health Trust’s Ostend location (5 Belgium Street), just behind the St John’s ambulance station.

  • Our ultrasound service is able to provide most types of scans for tamariki/children five years and over

  • Convenient and professional diagnostic services with referral from your medical center

  • Financial help is available through the Jassy Dean Trust if needed, we can assist you with this
